Henry III and VI (6 December 1421 – 3 May 1449) was the first of the Lancasters to rule the Crown of France from his coronation as Henry III, King of France, and Henry VI, King of England, on 13 October 1444.

Although Henry was heir-apparent, even from an early age he came into conflict with his younger brothers, Edmund and Edward. To alleviate this, the three sons were seperated frequently. Henry ruled the Duchy of Normandy, maintaining a large and lavish court in Rouen alongside his mother, Catherine.

In 1444, his father died in the midst of the Ottoman Crusade, and Henry assumed the thrones of France and England. Tensions flared, and in 1448, his younger brother Edmund died on a journey home from Paris. Edward seized upon this, claiming that Henry had the Duke of Lancaster murdered in Harfleur. The younger Lancaster's successes in the Levant and his cultivation of relations with the peerage in the south of France catalysed in the 1st Angevin Succession War.

Henry is remembered in history as Henry the Idle. His mediocraty in rule brought an already tumultuous crown into war, although his contributions to art in Paris are still remembered.
